Rotowiper has been offering this specialised process since 2011. We are one of a handful of companies in NZ that offer this process.
The process of zinc spraying is a high quality rust protection coating. Mostly compared to galvanizing, the zinc spray process is however done "'in house'" at our factory in Ashburton.
The process:
The product must be shot blasted with a GH40 grade shot grit to give the right profile imprinted onto the steel for the zinc to adhere to.
The zinc is sprayed on using a high frequency power supply via a special spray gun applicator with a high volume of compressed air.
A sealer applied using a standard paint spray gun.
Optional - this can be painted as well for a longer life protection and cosmetic looks.
Unlike galvanizing there is no need for drilling of vent holes and no clean-up required.
Spray zincing has a life span (a little dependent on the environment) of 15 to 20 years. If painted then the life could be extended to 20 t0 25 years. Even if the surface is damaged or scratched it will typically not rust as there is a chemical bond that takes place when the zinc is applied.
It is a high quality protection at similar cost to galvanizing.
The process is well worth the investment to protect your Rotowiper especially in coastal areas where sea air is prevalent.
