The beginnings of Rotowiper were born on a Southland Farm in New Zealand.  The innovative farmer had the thought that there had to be a better way of killing weeds rather than spraying.  The concept was born to use a rotating roller covered in carpet to hold the moisture and tow this over the weeds to apply the herbicide.  This was the beginning of the Rotowiper story.

Later Bisset Engineering acquired the manufacturing rights and proceeded to make improvements, making the frame much lighter and making the unit so it could be easily manufactured and dismantled for transporting.

The Rotowiper product was originally designed and offered to the market in the early 1990s by Bissett Engineering Limited.  In 2003 the business was sold and the new owners renamed the company Rotoworks International Limited.  Owned by an absentee owner with an appointed manager in place the business did not grow but remained solid.  

TR Model replaces WCF

The business was up for sale again in 2007 and was sold to current owners Dougal and Jenny Lamont.  The business appealed to Dougal and Jenny Lamont ""as there was nothing else on the market like it".

The names of the company was changed to Rotowiper Limited in 2008 to reflect the company and product as one.  Dougal and Jenny Lamont were motivated with ambitious goals with a strong focus on the local market while expanding the export market.

We have a research and development ethos and within a brief period we have seen substantial improvements to the existing machines and the release of the new model FU600 in the first year.  Along came the FU900, FU1200, LMU365,  LMU426.  Added to this is the newly designed '"TR"" tow behind version plus many other product enhancements as we see on modern day Rotowipers.  The range now goes from 1.8 metres to 2.4 meters

ROTATIONAL MOULDING


In 2008 Mouldings Unlimited (SI) Ltd was formed as a new start-up company. The company was formed with a partner shareholder from the North Island. Mouldings Unlimited specializes in plastic rotational moulding for commercial customers as well as having its own range of retail products. Dougal and Jenny purchased the shares of their partner in 2018 and then merged the two companies Rotowiper Limited and Mouldings SI Unlimited together as Rotowiper Ltd. The rotational moulding business has grown to nearly 50% of the present day business.

Our Rotowiper business is situated at our Ashburton factory. All Rotowiper machines are made there, assuring quality with a guarantee of workmanship and materials for a period of 2 years, from the date of purchase.

​From here we distribute Rotowiper throughout New Zealand as well as exporting Rotowiper around the world.
